Korea Culture Week (K-Sound)

K-Sound is a mesmerising celebration of Korean music brought to you by the Korean Cultural Center in Egypt. This unique event is part of the 2024 Korea Culture Week, commemorating the 10th anniversary of the KCC in Egypt.

K-Sound is a vibrant blend of traditional and contemporary Korean music, offering a rare opportunity to experience the enchanting sounds and rhythms that define Korea’s musical heritage. From captivating performances by renowned artists to interactive workshops and fascinating exhibitions, K-Sound Week promises an unforgettable journey into the heart of Korean music.

Celebrating 10 years of KCC in Egypt


On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Korean Cultural Center in Egypt in 2014, the center prepared various commemorative events hosted in 2024 that we encourage you to participate in and learn more about the various aspects of Korean culture.

Opening Concert

LEENALCHI PERFORMANCE

LEENALCHI is an alternative six-piece band comprised of three vocalists, two bassists, and a drummer. Formed in 2019, they have become widely known through collaborations with various brands and advertisements. The unfamiliar sound, influenced by unique vocals and new waves, is very danceable and can be enjoyed with familiarity.

Despite the pandemic, they have attracted attention at Korean music festivals and headline shows, as well as touring internationally in European festivals & venues, Japan, Australia, and Hong Kong.

The 1st full-length album, "SUGUNGGA", released in 2020, won three awards at the 18th Korean Music Awards, including "Musician of the Year" and "Best Modern Rock Song."

In 2024, they are preparing to release a new full-length album and embark on a European tour.

Gugak | Traditional music of Korea
Korea’s traditional musical instruments include native instruments played since ancient times and foreign instruments adopted from the Eurasian continent. 
Throughout the nation’s long history, these instruments have encapsulated its culture and sensibilities, undergoing modifications to express the sounds of different eras better.


Arirang | Korean Representative Traditional Folk Song

The well-known and widely shared Korean folk song Arirang(아리랑), which has been handed down through the generations and exists in many variations, embodies the profound sentiment of the Korean people and is regarded as one of Korea’s representative intangible cultural heritage.

Arirang Workshop

Join our workshop to delve into the enchanting world of Arirang, a cherished Korean folk song. Under the guidance of professional instructors specializing in traditional South Korean music, you'll learn the authentic techniques to sing Arirang. 

Additionally, you'll have the chance to design your own Buchae, a traditional Korean fan, making this a truly immersive cultural experience.

Closing Concert

Gugak & Arirang Performance

Gugak Academy Closing Ceremony:

Experience the rich heritage of Gugak, traditional Korean music crafted with authentic Korean instruments. This year, the closing ceremony of the 2024 Gugak Academy will feature a special performance where Egyptian students, guided by a specialist, will showcase their skills in playing Gugak instruments.

Arirang Performance: 

This performance is an integral part of our ceremony, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of Korea through the beautiful and evocative melody of "Arirang." Join us as we celebrate and honour the timeless tradition of Korean music, bringing the event to a memorable close.

2024 GUGAK ACADEMY INSTRUCTOR
A member of the National Gugak Center's Folk Music Group.
Graduated from the Department of Traditional Arts, Chung-Ang University.
Achievements:
Received the National Assembly Speaker's Award at the 25th Imbangul Korean Traditional Music Festival.
Received the Presidential Award at the 23rd Presidential Jeonju Jipyeongseon National Farmers' Music Competition.
Collaborated with various artists, including UV and Yang Ji-eun, on multiple performances.

Noh yun ji

VP Of Product Experience, Pixel Palace.

With a master's degree in Korean Music from Chung-Ang University, specializing in Seodo Minyo (folk songs from the northwest region of Korea), Noh Yoon Ji brings a wealth of expertise and experience.

She is an award-winning musician, having received the Silver Prize at the Ganghwa National Traditional Music Competition and the Encouragement Prize at the National Seodo Song Contest.

Eom ye jin

Design Partner, GV

With a master's degree in Korean Music from Chung-Ang University, specializing in Traditional Gayageum Performance.

She has received top awards, including the First Prize in the Traditional Gayageum Performance category at the 5th Pansori Myungga Jangwol Joongseon Master Singer Competition and the Grand Prize in the Folk Songs and Traditional Gayageum Performance Category at the 18th Changwon National Traditional Music Competition.
